Scheduling appointments:

Organization

A well-organized start

As you enter chemotherapy, it is important to plan and be prepared. Keeping your treatment on track will be a team effort!

Your healthcare team might consist of a surgeon, a radiation specialist, a medical oncologist or haematologist (a physician who specializes in giving chemotherapy), and an oncology or haematology nurse. Other advisors are available as needed. These may include a dietician, a social worker, psychologist, pharmacist and others. All are specifically trained to assist patients with cancer.

Managing appointments:

  • Consider getting a special agenda or calendar just for your cancer treatment. It can be a space not only for appointments and reminders, but also to jot down inspirational quotes, encouraging messages, or anything else that might help keep your spirits up.
  • Enlist a friend or family member to help you stay on track of your appointment and medication schedule if needed.
